The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has said Kano was safe to hosts its NBA Section on Legal Practice, SLP, conference.
NBA National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Lawal in a statement on Sunday, said: “The leadership of NBA acknowledges the fact that Kano has been in the news over the revered traditional position of the Emir of Kano.
“This situation notwithstanding, the NBA wishes to state unequivocally that Kano is safe and ready to host the NBA Section on Legal Practice, SLP, conference.
“The NBA has received assurances from the Kano State Government and the relevant law enforcement agencies in this regard.
“This was further confirmed by the Chairmen of Kano, Ungoggo and Dutse Branches of the NBA, Mr Sagir Gezawa, Muhammed Jibrin and Mustapha Kashim respectively, several members of these Branches, and Mr Aminu Sani Gadanya, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, for the NBA-SLP Conference.
“To this end, the NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, SAN urges all intending conferees of the NBA-SLP Conference to continue with their plans to attend a conference that promises to be impactful and engaging,” the statement added.
