Nigerians should let Kemi Badenoch be -Daudu, SAN

Former Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, President, Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, has said that Kemi Badenoch, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom does not owe Nigerians anything and should be allowed to be.

Daudu in a posto on his confirmed Facebook handle, said: “Why are people giving this young lady, Kemi Badenoch too much attention? She has done nothing wrong. All her views/opinions are hers and she is entitled to it.

“Nigerians have a bizarre way of wanting to reap where they have not sown. We don’t own Kemi Badenoch and there is nothing we can do about it. We did not send her to the United Kingdom and even if we did, she is entitled to toe the line of an arch British Conservative.

“If most Nigerians are in her shoes, gunning for the high office of British Prime Minister, they will do worse than just point to their original father’s house with their left hands.

“Her new society is watching her and deep down, the British society think that she will open their country to millions of Nigerians to just cross into the UK because their sister is or will be PM.

“Even if she has a soft spot towards her original country, she has a duty to sincerely project the values of her new country, which is definitely at variance with our own Nigerian nonplussed values of corruption, opportunism and deceit.

“She has a duty to represent her society of choice. Let her be. Allow a Nigerian for once to achieve her goals, which is neither illegal nor unpatriotic, without throwing her under the bus.

“She owes us nothing for now and the best we can do is to stop distracting her until she can at least have a shot at the office of the British PM and after that we can judge her.

“For now, let the haters leave Kemi alone, to be who she wants to be. It is her fundamental right,” he added.
