ADC chieftain slams ‘purported suspension’ of Atiku, Babachir

..describes it as “callous” and anti-democratic

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has condemned the alleged suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, describing the move as “a callous act by hunger-driven sycophants and enemies of democracy.”

In a statement on Thursday, Eze dismissed the suspension as illegitimate, saying that it was orchestrated by a “non-existing faction” of the ADC in Adamawa State.

“The purported suspension of Atiku and Babachir is a callous act by a few ADC hunger-driven sycophants and enemies of democracy in Adamawa State,” he said.

He argued that Atiku’s political influence in Adamawa remains unshaken, describing him as “a political institution and beacon of democracy” whose dominance “transcends party lines.
“No living individual or group can make Atiku irrelevant in the politics and culture of Adamawa State,” he added.

Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, attributed the alleged action to economic hardship and political manipulation, which he linked to the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

“It is hunger, deprivation and foolishness, ironically inflicted on these same individuals that prompted this embarrassing move,” he said.

Further, he said: “Who is this Raji Zumo? It is only under Tinubu and the APC that such individuals will attempt to suspend respected leaders of a political party.”

He accused the Federal Government of undermining opposition figures and democratic institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Attempting to destabilise opposition politicians using state institutions is a sign of a drowning goon afraid of competitive elections,” he alleged.

He warned President Tinubu to “trade softly” and desist from actions he described as undemocratic.

“All these acts toward undermining key opposition figures are degrading of a man who prides himself as a democrat,” Eze stated.

He further said: “No amount of witch-hunting or undemocratic acts will secure re-election for Tinubu in 2027.

“The President Tinubu knows the game is over due to his abysmal performance, he has turned himself into a curse to Nigeria,” Eze said.
