APC produces Delta Assembly candidates ahead of 2027 general elections

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has held its primary elections for the Delta State House of Assembly across the 29 state constituencies, producing candidates who will fly the party’s flag in the 2027 general elections.

The exercise, conducted across Delta State, saw party members elect candidates in all 29 state constituencies, was peaceful, credible and transparent.

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, emerged as the party’s candidate for Warri South-West Constituency.

In Isoko North Constituency, Engr. Orobosa Ashakah secured the APC, while Mr. Lucky Idhoveh emerged as the party’s candidate in Isoko South Constituency I.

Incumbent lawmaker representing Isoko South Constituency II, Ferguson Onwo, secured the APC ticket to seek re-election. Ms Orode Uduaghan emerged victorious in Warri North Constituency, while incumbent lawmakers, Augustine Uroye and Benson Obire secured tickets for Warri South Constituencies I and II respectively.

Mr. ThankGod Trakiriowei, won the Patani Constituency ticket, while Funyei Manager, emerged victorious in Bomadi Constituency. Alapala Ebitonmo and Perez Oloye also secured APC tickets for Burutu Constituencies I and II respectively.

Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Arthur Akpowowo, emerged victorious for Ethiope East Constituency, while Oghenedoro Owoso clinched the party’s ticket for Ethiope West.

Matthew Omonade, incumbent lawmaker and Chief Joseph Okoro won in Ughelli North Constituencies I and II respectively. Also, incumbent lawmaker, Festus Utuama, was returned unopposed in Ughelli South Constituency.

Member representing Okpe Constituency, James Augoye, secured renomination, Benjamin Sharta emerged in Udu Constituency, while Edafe Emakpor clinched the ticket for Uvwie Constituency. Hon Perkins Umukoro, seeking reelection, won the APC ticket in Sapele.

Incumbent lawmaker, Bridget Anyafulu emerged victorious in Oshimili South, while the Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Council, Innocent Eseweze, secured the APC ticket for Oshimili North Constituency.

Isaac Anwuzia and Engr. Fidel Onwordi won the party tickets for Aniocha South and Aniocha North constituencies respectively. In Ukwuani Constituency, incumbent lawmaker, Chukwudi Dafe was returned, while Prince Emeka Osamuta and Chief Princewill Olie secured victories in Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West constituencies, respectively.

Cordilia Anyangwu won the APC ticket for Ika South, while incumbent lawmaker, Marilyn Okowa-Daramola secured renomination for Ika North-East Constituency.

Party supporters across the constituencies celebrated the emergence of the candidates as the APC concluded its state Assembly primaries and shifted focus towards preparations for the 2027 general elections in Delta State.

Meanwhile, the APC House of Assembly primaries Committee set up by the APC National Working Committee, NWC, for Delta State has commended the leadership of the party in the state, describing it as mature, people-oriented and focused on victory ahead of future elections.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists at the state secretariat of the party, Chairman of the Committee, Engr. Vita Abda said the panel was impressed with the political atmosphere and level of organisation within the party in Delta State.

According to him, the committee was in the state on the directive of the APC National Working Committee in Abuja to monitor, supervise and conduct the House of Assembly primaries in line with the party’s guidelines.

“We are here as members of the Committee for the House of Assembly primaries of our great party, APC,” he said.

The committee member noted that the team had observed a robust and mature political structure in the state, stressing that the leadership style being demonstrated by party leaders was worthy of commendation.

He said: “We have come and we have seen Delta, and I want to put it on record that my team and I are happy with the leadership in Delta State. From what we have seen, Delta has a strong leadership that is people-oriented.

The panel particularly commended the state governor for what it described as his commitment to infrastructural development and people-centred programmes.

The committee also applauded the Delta APC leadership under the State Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, describing him as “a matured hand” capable of steering the affairs of the party successfully.
