Labour Party disowns one Basil Maduka

…says he is a co-conspirator with Apapa

Labour Party, LP, has disowned one  Basil Maduka, who it said is a co-conspirator with Lamidi Apapa.

LP National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in a statement on Wednesday, said:

“Late on Tuesday, an invitation was circulated to some media personnel inviting them for a Press Briefing today.

“‘But curiously, the invitation has it that Chief Basil Maduka is a candidate from “Abure Faction.

“Below is the text of the invitation:

“You are invited to a press briefing by Chief Basil Maduka Labour Party candidate from the Abure faction to clear the air on his candidacy and the controversies surrounding the LP tussle ahead of the Imo state governorship election.

“Date: Wednesday 18th
Venue: Efab Classic by NEPA Junction, Apo.
Time: 10:30am”

“In case you are not aware, Basil Maduka is one of the two aspirants who stage-managed Imo state governorship primaries under the supervision of Lamidi Apapa.

“He is one of the agents of Apapa who under the influence created crisis in the Labour Party. He is the same character who sued the party up till the Supreme Court but lost woefully.

“After losing out at the Supreme Court, he and his cohorts are probably hatching another plot to perpetuate their sinister motives.

“His claims that he is from Abure led executive raised our curiosity, hence our raising the alarm.

“Basil Maduka is not known to our party. He is a co-conspirator with Apapa.

“We are, therefore, calling on the media and general public to flee from these agents of destabilization who will stop at nothing at ensuring that LP lives with unnecessary cracks.

“The party had also on Monday, in a press briefing appealed to the media against giving audience to these expelled members of the party and their cohorts who have been consistently impersonating the officials of our party.

“We restate here that with the Supreme Court’s recent pronouncement on the Labour Party issue, all crises before now has ceased.

“There is no faction in the party as Julius Abure remains the only recognized national chairman of the party,” the statement added.
