The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos State Council 2023 Press Week is set to kick off on Monday, August 21.
According to statement by Chairman of the State Council, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, the Week-long programme will start with Health Walk from Ikeja Under Bridge to NUJ Secretariat, 9A, Iyalla Street, Alausa, Ikeja on Monday.
Ajayi said: “The Week will be highlighted by two major events; a Public Lecture with the Theme: “Post Election Nigeria: Paths To National Restoration And Peace”, to be delivered by the Guest Speaker, Prof. Sunday Alawode, Dean, School of Communication Studies, Lagos State University (LASU), followed by a Panel of Discussion.
The Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian Newspapers, Mr. Martins Oloja will chair the Lecture holding on August 23, 2023, at the Combo Hall, LTV Compound, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi-Ikeja.
“The second is Gala/ Awards Nite on August 25, 2023 also at the Combo Hall.

Among distinguished Nigerians and Corporate organisations to be honoured are Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East senatorial district; James Faleke, member House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency; Adewale Adedeji, member, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01; Airtel Nigeria; Nigeria Breweries Plc; and other distinguished leaders and members of the Union.”
The Chairman also revealed other activities to include visit to Orphanage/Home for the Elderly and Cultural Day/Chapel Rendezvous on August 24, including Jumat and Thanksgiving Services on August 27 and 27.
He urged Chapel Chairmen and Secretaries, along with their members to turn out en mass to participate in the annual programme, which promises to be thrilling, educating, entertaining and fun-filled.
