…as Delta showcases investment potential
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, has called on investors to take advantage of Nigeria’s improving macroeconomic environment by investing in states that are creating the right conditions for enterprise, describing Delta State as a strong example of subnational leadership translating national reforms into economic opportunity.
Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, the Minister said the Federal Government has laid the foundation for sustainable economic growth through bold reforms that have restored macroeconomic stability and strengthened fiscal resilience.
He noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu confronted long-standing structural distortions by unifying the foreign exchange market, removing the fuel subsidy, restoring monetary discipline, and implementing comprehensive tax reforms that broaden the tax base while reducing the burden on businesses, particularly small enterprises.
The Minister explained that these reforms have significantly improved public finances, resulting in higher revenues for states and local governments to meet critical obligations, invest in infrastructure and human capital, and drive inclusive development.
He stressed that while the Federal Government is responsible for ensuring macroeconomic stability, the responsibility for converting that stability into jobs, investments and higher living standards rests with states and local governments.

“Abuja can provide economic stability, but states must unlock their unique competitive advantages by creating an enabling environment for investment, supporting local enterprise and translating economic opportunities into tangible prosperity for their people,” he said.
Highlighting Delta State’s vast economic assets, including its hydrocarbon resources, blue economy potential, fertile agricultural land and mineral wealth, the Minister said natural endowments alone are insufficient without strong execution and investor confidence.
He urged investors and business leaders to partner with reform-oriented states, noting that capital naturally flows to jurisdictions where policies are stable, institutions are responsive and investments are protected.
The Minister commended the Delta State Government for convening the summit and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to maintaining policies that promote private sector-led growth, economic competitiveness and shared prosperity across Nigeria.
