Obaseki recovers borrow pits Ikpoba-Okha over illicit operations

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has recovered borrow pits in the Obagie N’ Evbosa axis, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state over illegal and illicit operations.

The governor, who spoke at the borrow pit site on Wednesday, said: “I am taken aback by the extent of illegal and illicit operations going on at borrow pits in the Obagie N’ Evbosa axis, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.

“These illegal operators have no respect for law and order, and they are challenging the govt. Government  will show its full might and force.

“We cannot continue at this rate because their activities pose a serious threat to the environment and lives in the neighbouring communities.

“We are issuing this as a warning to the operators and the federal mining officers in the state who permit this illegality and give authorisation, that we will arrest and deal with them.

“They must cease all illegal activities until we agree on the areas that can be borrowed.
