Obi worries over trafficking of Nigerian teenage girls

…Urges govt bring perpetrators to justice

Presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, in the February 25, 2023, poll, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed worries over the trafficking of Nigerian teenage girls, urging government to take swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Obi in his X on Sunday, said: “I was made aware of a disturbing incident yesterday, involving some Nigerian teenage girls, who were trafficked to Ghana, as seen in a viral video.

“I am deeply concerned and saddened by this ugly situation, and I am urgently appealing to the relevant government authorities to take immediate action to rescue and protect these vulnerable girls.

“Furthermore, I am willing to collaborate with any individual or organisation involved in the efforts to combat human trafficking and support the victims.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of these young girls and to prevent such horrific incidents from happening in the future.

“I urge the government to take swift and decisive action to investigate this incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and provide support and rehabilitation to the victims.

“I also call on non-governmental organizations, civil society, and individuals to join forces in this fight against human trafficking and exploitation.

“Together, we can make a difference and create a safer and more just society for all,” he added.
