Security Situation Room, SSR, an online security tracking platform has called on the Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Dankwara Mohammed to bring back the Edo State Police Command Anti Extortion Committee.
SSR in a statement by it’s Convener, Douglas Ogbankwa, noted that it was the panacea in checking the excesses of deviant Police Officers and Men.
Ogbankwa in the statement on Sunday, said:
“The Security Situation Room has appraised the recent happenings in the Edo State Police Command and states that having an Anti Extortion Committee in the Command, will check the activities of errant police officers and police men.
“Resuscitating the Committee is in tune with the Anti Corruption Stance of the State Commissioner of Police -CP Dankwara Mohammed.
“And it will help the Commissioner of Police and his management team to get prompt information that will fore stall any untoward occurrence that will cause alarm to the public.
“This is because the Committee works closely with the civil society and the media and such synergy helps in building systems that makes the police to function better.

“We also call on the acting Inspector General of Police-IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun, to make this issue a policy direction nation wide.
“This is to institutionalize spontaneous, but coordinated checks and balances on the activities of Officers and Men of the Force,” he added.
