Delta Political Vanguard, DPV (Worldwide), a grassroot political support organisation in Delta State, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made at an enlarge meeting of members and leaders of the group in Asaba on Wednesday.
The formal motion for the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term as Governor of Delta State, and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections was moved by a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Osanebi Friday, and seconded by Oboro Preyor.
Following the motion and its seconding, a former Secretary to the State Government, Festus Ovie-Agas called for a voice vote, after which the motion was unanimously declared adopted.
Earlier, National Chairman of the DPV, Michael Diden, said the organisation had resolved to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation structure in support of the candidates.
Diden said the meeting was convened to reaffirm the continued existence and relevance of the political organisation, which he described as a formidable group that had contributed to the emergence and success of three governors in Delta State.
According to him, the organisation had consulted its two major wings — the Youth Wing and the Elders Wing — and secured their agreement to support Tinubu for President and Oborevwori for Governor.
He said the group would mobilise its members across the state’s 25 local government areas in pursuit of the resolution.
“Today, we are also here to make known our position on the nomination and endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the presidency and Sheriff Oborevwori for the governorship of Delta State, as we approach the elections,” Diden said.
He also disclosed that the organisation had adopted what it termed a “five-over-five” support strategy across the various local government areas, urging members to remain committed to the resolution despite possible grievances or political challenges.
Diden said the resolution represented the collective position reached by the leadership and members of the organisation following consultations with its youth and elders wings.
Others speakers who spoke at the event including the Director of Protocol, Olorogun Onoriode Sunday, Tonye Timi urged members to intensify grassroots engagement and communicate the organisation’s position across their respective communities and local government areas.
The event attracted members from the 25 local government areas of the state, alongside commissioners, local government council chairmen and other political leaders.
The development adds to the growing political mobilisation in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties, stakeholders and support groups increasingly activating their grassroots structures ahead of the polls.
