The company was revived by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in 2017 with a Public Private Partnership, PPP, arrangement with WACOT Limited, an agro-input company.

A representative of Edo Fertilizer and Chemical Company, Alh. Sadiq Kazzim, at the Alaghodaro Summit in Benin City, commended Governor Obaseki for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State.

According to him: “Today, we produce 80,000 tonnes of NPK Fertilisers in Edo State and our sales turnover is over N15 billion.

“The company has the opportunity to serve other parts of the country, especially the North East due to insurgency as it is difficult to allow setting up fertilizers in that part of the country.”

The fertilizer business drives a number of agriculture activities within the State and across the country, as it provides a steady supply of inputs to boost yields and improve food sufficiency.

The company also provides jobs to locals in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State, reducing youth restiveness and supplying farmers with much needed supplies to boost food production in the area.
