Late Giwa-Osagie, Coach Broadrick-Imasuen made Edo proud -Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Monday, said late Rilwan Giwa-Osagie and late Coach Sebastian Broadrick-Imasuen, made the state proud in their various professions.

Obaseki, who condoled with the families of late Giwa-Osagie and Broadrick-Imasuen, described them as great Edo legends, who have made the state proud.

Obaseki and his entourage visited both families, in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

At the residence of the late Giwa-Osagie, Obaseki said the late patriarch was an accounting professional, who distinguished himself, contributing to the development of the state and country.

The governor said: “We are here to console the family on the passing of daddy who is a legend and one of those we look up to in the corporate community, Benin City, and Edo State, especially in the accounting profession.

“He was our equivalent of Akintola Williams. Anybody who had any serious business to do and to look at their books, it’s Giwa-Osagie.

“We need to celebrate his life and celebrate him as he lived a good life and accomplished all he set out to do and made his mark, setting a good example for us on how to relate with one another and conduct ourselves.

“We thank God and praise God that we had the opportunity of having him with us for over eight decades.

“He gave all and showed love, humility, hard work and key values of Edo personality. You have a champion as a father, so let’s celebrate him.”

At the residence of late Coach Sebastian Broadrick-Imasuen, Obaseki said the late Coach will be truly remembered as a true icon and hero in the State as he has achieved great feats in the football world.

He stated, “We are here to commiserate with the family and support the family on the passage of our father and football legend. We have so much to say about him.

“I got the letter on the arrangement for Daddy’s burial but decided to personally come to see you and give our support. We miss him in the State.

“He lived a good and purposeful life. He lived a life of impact; he changed his generation and generations after him. He dominated this world and we are here to thank God for his life and what he is to us in Edo State.”

Obaseki added, “He will be truly remembered as a true icon and hero in Edo State as he has achieved great feats, especially in the football world.”

In their separate response, the families expressed appreciation to the governor and his entourage for the visit.

Speaking on behalf of the Imasuen family, Efosa Broadrick-Imasuen said: “I thank the governor and his entourage for the visit.

“It means so much to the family. This brings joy to us that you recognize the impact of our father on the State and Country. It shows you are concerned about the welfare of sportsmen and women in Edo State.”
