… Shaibu affirms mentorship by media mogul
The remains of late media mogul, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, have been laid to rest in his home town of Agenebode in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Governor Godwin Obsseki of Edo State, was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu, at a funeral mass in honour of the deceased founder and Chairman of DAAR Communications.
In his remarks at the event, which attracted eminent personalities from across the country, Shaibu said: “on behalf of the Governor of Edo State, my boss and elder brother, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Government and good people of Edo State, l bring condolences to the family of Late Chief Dokpesi.
“It is sad that we are mourning the death of an icon, knowing how he transversed the entire country recently on political campaign. But who are we to question God?

“We never questioned Him when he gave us Dokpesi, so who are we to question Him now that he has gone back to his Maker.
Dokpesi was a Philanthropist–Shaibu
“Chief Dokpesi was a Philanthropist ; a man who fed multitude; a man who was always there to help you carry your cross and ensure you’re productive”.
According to Shaibu, “speaking about his legacy is timeless.
“The people of Alagbado in Lagos State will tell you a better version of his story, because they know that without him, there would never have been a place called Alagbado on Google.
“You can’t talk about the media of any sort, without referencing High Chief Dokpesi.
“He was a rugged and dogged political figure who spoke truth to power, courageous and bold.
“When people say I’m too bold, I ask them to look at my mentors whom I tapped experiences from.
“Though he is no longer with us, we will always remember him for good.
“It is always good to be good. Your wealth is not determined by the number of houses, cars you have or your bank account, but the many souls you have lifted with what you have.

“Chief Dokpesi was a great man”, Shaibu added.
Earlier in his homily, Bishop of Auchi Catholic Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Dunia, enjoined believers to always do well to live a holy life and give back to the society the blessings of God.

In his speech, the bereaved eldest son, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr., expressed deep sorrow over the death of his father, while expressing gratitude for the outpouring of condolences.
He described his late father as a loving husband, caring father and dedicated patriarch who would be “deeply missed by his family and others,whose lives he touched through his acts of philanthropy.
Some dignitaries at the funeral mass were; Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, former Inspector General of Police, lGP, Dr. Solomon Arase.
Others included former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomohle, former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Chief Mike Oghiadomeh and Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Azegbemhi.
