Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, has congratulated Alhaji Usman Ododo, candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the November 11, governorship election in Kogi State, on his declaration as governor-elect.
CNPP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, James Ezema, the umbrella association of all registered political parties and political associations in Nigeria, in a statement, noted that despite reported hitches and pockets of issues associated with the off-cycle governorship elections in the country, the deployment of electoral officers by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was commendable.
Advising the governor-elect to embrace all sections of the political and tribal devides in the state on assumption of office, CNPP urged the incoming administration to address negative publicity against the state as matter of priority.
It said: “Reports of isolated cases of malpractices and attempted voters’ inducement, were immediately arrested by the anti-graft and other security agencies.

“Unfortunately, Kogi State has experienced years of negative publicity and the incoming administration, as a matter of priority, has a duty to reposition the state in the minds of the people.
“Therefore, we urge the incoming administration to carry all tribes and sections along and take actions that will better unite the people of the state.
“While we commend INEC and all security agencies for the relatively peaceful conduct of the Kogi State governorship election on November 11, compared to the past governorship polls
“We congratulate the state governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ododo on his victory.”
CNPP urged any aggrieved party or individual to maintain the peace and explore all relevant legal processes for redress.
